In Writing today, we added 2 essential elements of our "how-to". The first was to add transitions. each step of the "how-to" requires a transition. Next, we added a closing. There are several easy ways to write closings:
- Ask a question: How do YOU ...
- Make a command: Go make_____ today.
- Make a now statement: Now you know how to...
Math Workshop application problem:
A squirrel found 8 nuts in the morning, 5 nuts in the afternoon, and 2 nuts in the evening.
How many nuts did the squirrel find in all?
The next day, the squirrel found 3 more nuts in the morning, and 1 more nut in the evening. How many did she collect over the two days?
